The Return of the C2C | 26-29 August 2011

The Return of the C2C | 26-29 August 2011After the huge success of the first the Coast to Coast Adventure Race in 2009, we can announce we will be running the same race again in 2011, so if you missed out get ready for the 2011 extravaganza!

The C2C - We follow the founder of the C2C, Alfred Wainwright in setting off from St Bees Head and finishing in the spectacular Robin Hoods bay. Again in true adventure race style you may find yourself on mountain bikes, kayaking, open water swimming, running and navigating your team from one side of the country to another!

The event is for solos and mixed teams of three (with two competing at any one time) and is a supported event so you will need a friend to help you out. Date 26-29 August 2011.

STING in STIRLING | 25th Aug to 1st Sept 2012

STING in STIRLING | 25th Aug to 1st Sept 2012 / Photo © Destination360Race background - When London won the 2012 Olympic bid two of the UK's leading adventure race organisers, Nick Gracie and James Thurlow both got the idea to create a large expedition style Adventure Race in the UK to take place post the Olympics. 'The whole of the UK will be glued to the Olympics in the summer of 2012 and we want to give all those adventure athletes and adventure enthusiasts out there an athletic goal of their own for 2012.

After months of deliberation on the perfect location for the event James and Nick settled on Stirling in Scotland to be the host event city. Stirling is at the pinnacle of GB sport and is the home of many Scottish Sports. The Sporting facilities in Stirling are incredible as well as the beautiful natural back drop and two iconic symbols of Scotland, Stirling Castle and The William Wallace Monument.

The east coast of Scotland also has kinder weather and is much dryer than the west coast, there is less of a problem with midges and the area we plan to hold the race in has never been touched by an adventure race before.

The event will be a 4 to 5 day nonstop adventure race for mixed sex teams of 4. Including running / trekking, mountain biking, kayaking, canyoneering and some rope work. The event will run from the 25th August to 1st September 2012.

We have designed a race format and course that will allow all the teams to finish. The race will be achievable yet challenging to all levels. We are not planning to design the hardest adventure race ever, in fact quite the opposite; we want it to be fun, interesting and an accessible event. Every night we will provide access to warm and dry shelter, as well as a hot dinner and breakfast. Adventure Racing World Champion - Nick Gracie will be designing the race route alongside Open Adventure's James Thurlow.

We are launching the event very early in order for teams to have ample time to plan and gain the necessary skills and experience to take part in the event. We will be setting out a training plan that will allow you to realise your dreams and complete an expedition style adventure race. As all Olympic athletes will be designing there training for 2012 we too will get you as ready as we can to prepare you for an adventure and achievement of a lifetime.
