The proposition of entering the adidas TERREX evolved (as most things in my life seem to) over a pint or two. It seemed like a great idea at the time! After a few enquiries thrown about it didn’t take too long before some volunteered and others press ganged to form this eclectic team, the common denominator being that our names all begin with the letter M! 

Matt Morris (aka Misty Buff)
Matt has come to adventure racing after turning to the ‘dark side’ after getting bored of shaving his legs for road racing and triathlon and returning to his initial passion of mountain biking and dirt! He has also taken part in lots of different events ranging from Rat Races, fell runs to 6 day desert marathons – very much a jack of all trades and master of none! Matt’s passion for AR has escalated to a point where he continues to escape the realms of normal employment and is part of a new company called - you guessed it – “Might Contain Nuts.com”

Matt Unsworth (aka Crusty)
Matt has cycle Road Raced for many years as a nipper. After letting things slip in his 20s, Matt decided to try and get something back in his 30s. Matt starting MTBing and competed as a team in 12/24hr enduros. In 2006, he took part in a local charity multisport event and had a bad accident on my bike which led to a change of direction aged 36. He enjoyed the multi event so much that I kept an eye out for longer, harder events and found the world of Adventure Racing ….. the rest his history!  

Maria Leijerstam
Maria ran the Marathon Des Sables in 2007 after which she decided she was totally fed up with running and so in searching for something new found The Turas world series expedition race in Ireland. She is the most experienced of the team in terms of non stop racing having recently taken part last year in the World Champs. In addition to this she has had notable results in Grisdale Ace Race 2008 - 1st Three Peaks Yacht Race 2007 - 3rd Open 5+ 2009 1stUK Coast to Coast 2009 2nd Speight's Coast to Coast 2010 21st.

Since starting AR few years ago, Maria aged 32, is addicted to the sport. Her favourite phase is kayaking and being able to get away with eating five Mars Bars in one day! 

Martin Buck (aka Bucky)
Martin has an amazing calmness to his approach for new challenges. He frequently turns up to events having done little or no training due to his hectic lifestyle and to date has an amazing ability to pull it out of the bag at the last minute. The adidas TERREX will be his third AR after the Open 24 so most definitely a case of being in at the deep end for this one. His fitness levels are probably higher than most as a result of chasing sheep around the hills of south Wales – in case anyone was wondering he is a hill farmer!
