Team adidas TERREX are the UK’s leading adventure racing team consisting of a squad of 7 athletes. The squad have over 70 years of adventure racing experience between them and have competed in most the adventure races around the world and in the UK. The team have been British Champions since 2005 and in 2009 become Adventure Racing World Champions.  

For the TERREX race, the 2009 World Adventure Race Champions Tom Gibbs, Nicola Macleod & Nick Gracie are joined by fellow racer Steve Birkinshaw. Warren Bates who was the other member of the World Championship winning team has now moved to the west coast of the south island of New Zealand so it’s a bit of a long way to come for the race plus baby number 3 is due any day !! We have called on local super fell runner Steve Birkinshaw to fill Warren’s adidas swoops! 

As team adidas TERREX we are obviously really looking forward to racing in our sponsors race and I’m sure it will be an exciting course in beautiful scenery. The organisation will be first class and we are looking forward to a competitive and challenging race. It will be great to race against our mates on home soil and after a 3 year gap its brilliant to have an expedition length race back in the UK. 

The race acts as a perfect warm up to the 2010 World Championships in Spain a month later where we are looking forward to defending our title and will be rejoin by Warren Bates. Nicola Macleod, an army medic major heads off to Afghanistan for a 6-month tour 4 days after the race so it’s her last chance to run in the hills for a while. 

The team have been warming up nicely over the spring and summer with recent UK wins at the Open 5+, the Open 12, the Open 24, the Edinburgh Rat Race, Dynamic Adventures and Tri Adventures and two great wins abroad with a second win in a row at the Patagonia Expedition Race and a great win at the Iberian Adventure Racing Championships in Spain last month.
