The Calder Valley team brings together the successful pairings of Jackie Scarf/Barbara Lonsdale (winners Open Endurance Series Female Pairs 2009 and 2010, winners Ladies Pairs Old Counties Tops race 2010, and a successful pairing for the 2008 and 2009 LAMM) and Andy Mitchell/Phil Scarf (Second Open Endurance Series 2010 following Phil’s win in 2009).  

Phil and Jackie have also raced together regularly in the Open5 series and came 5th in the Open C2C 2009 just behind Andy, who was 3rd with the Nav4 team.  They also won the OMM Elite mixed vets class in 2009.

Jackie comes from a background of orienteering and fell running, while Phil has focused more on orienteering and mountain biking.  Both Andy and Phil competed in the Adventure Racing World Champs 2007, while Andy has also raced in WARC 2005 and Primal Quest 2006.  

Barbara comes from a background of mountain biking, mountaineering and more recently fell running and adventure racing.   Barbara won the ladies pairs Open5 2009 - 2010 series.  Barbara has a wealth of experience on the hills and is currently working towards her mountain leader qualification.  

Andy brings some kayak expertise to the team with two Devizes Westminster finishes and 10 years of playing canoe polo competitively, he’s also completed the TransRockies and TransWales MTB races.  No stranger to the Lakes, he completed the Bob Graham Round in 2009 and Fred Whitton Challenge in 2010.

Coming together as a four for the first time, the team hopes to capitalise on the strategic skills shown in their regular podium finishes.  Also having a fully mixed team should pay dividends in the later stages of the race when tiredness becomes a major factor.
